The Real+Good Writer Overview
From 2016-2018 I created and managed a creative writing pedagogy resource hub and community for writers called The Real+Good Writer. For this project, I wrote, designed, and promoted over 60 blog posts, two online classes, a planner, and many workbooks and worksheets to help creative writers strengthen their craft and mindset. I also hosted a Facebook community for writers to connect and share additional resources with each other.

I grew my email list to over 6,000 subscribers and consistently maintained a 35% engagement rate.
I achieved approximately 83,000 views on my most popular blog post.
I enrolled over 1,400 students in my online course/most popular lead magnet.

I prioritized the long-form blog post structure to create a trustworthy and reliable brand that readers knew would provide detailed information. I designed and created the accompanying graphics and lead magnet worksheets in addition to writing each blog post. I also prioritized SEO and many of my posts achieved first-page search results on Google.

Subject: BOO! It’s Writing Season!
Content: We have entered into what may be the most literary season of them all. Fall brings with it cozy socks and curling up with a good book, a month of novel writing (and apple cider), and a whole lot of literary fun.
I wrote monthly email updates packed with valuable free content and crafted email funnel systems for paid products. I consistently maintained high email engagement rates by prioritizing useful content and connecting with readers in a conversational tone.

I wrote and designed many lead magnets in the form of worksheets, workbooks, checklists, and quick tips to accompany my blog posts. The goal was to provide useful resources to blog post readers, increase my brand awareness as knowledgeable and trustworthy, and grow my email list.

Case Study: The Real+Good Writer’s DNA
My most popular lead magnet was “The Real+Good Writer’s DNA” online course which helped writers reconnect with their words by understanding their identity. Through evergreen funnels consisting of social media outreach, blog posts, and email sequencing, this course has enrolled over 1,400 writers. This product began as a free lead magnet but eventually converted to a paid product.

The WriteLife Planner was a physical print-on-demand planner designed to guide writers through three months of conquering their writing goals, strengthening their writing practice, and living a writing life they loved.

The Real+Good Writer’s Plan Your Novel Workbook was created to celebrate Preptober, the month-long novel planning event in the writing community every October. This was a digital product designed to support writers as they planned their novels. It achieved a 6% conversion rate from its sales page on Gumroad.
